Adventures with Dr. Lady Cutie Troublemaker

Life is in flux BIG TIME these days. I want to keep in touch with all of my peeps. The Internet is this beautiful thing. I can move to a brand new city and still stay in easy, near-daily contact with the people I love. When I feel connected to the people in my life that matter, I am unstoppable!

More Faces

By Abby at 10:10 am on Wednesday, August 3, 2005

After Aaron’s very successful faces, he and I decided I needed to use a better picture of myself facing the camera. Despite the many pictures of me that exist, there weren’t any with me facing the camera and looking at it… I’m hardly surprised since I have considerable camera anxiety. Anyway, Aaron merged two pictures and reran the web tool and came up with this much better set:

Row 1: Baby, Child, Teen
Row 2: Now, Older, Afro-Caribbean
Row 3: Asian, Indian, Masculine
Row 4: Modigliani, Botticelli, Mucha
Row 5: Manga, Ape, Drunk

You know what’s weird? That second picture looks a lot like my cousin Kate when she was younger.

Finding an Apartment and Other Things

By Abby at 6:50 pm on Sunday, July 31, 2005

This is exactly what Aaron and I did, and it worked beautifully! The only hitch is that sometimes, Bloglines doesn’t update quickly enough. Some mornings, I just went straight to CL. Speaking of hitches, that movie Hitch wasn’t half bad. I don’t see a lot of movies these days, and I was so pleased to not have wasted my time. Thanks, Will Smith. 😛

My parents and Aaron were here this weekend. After Friday’s bash, we spent all day Saturday and half of Sunday packing the place up. They were enormously helpful, although packing is never free of stress. Now the move feels almost manageable, although there is still loads of paperwork to do. Hey, at least I got me some Dish, Blue Plate, and Automatic Slim’s cuisine. Thanks, Mom and Dad!

Sorry for the ramble. So tired. So very, very tired!

Hot Brain Ramble

By Abby at 7:47 pm on Sunday, July 24, 2005

So the big rumor was that this weekend, gang initiations were supposed to go down at malls, Wal-Marts, Krogers, Targets, etc. I had some reason to believe it that I can’t really go into, but anyway… I went to Schnuck’s, and there was, in fact, an extra cop posted outside. He looked fairly ineffectual, but anyway, he was there. My thought was this: the much greater danger at Schnuck’s is not gang initiations. It’s getting killed by the cars in the parking lot. Man, that place is insane. Seriously, whoever designed the traffic flow there must have been on crack. It’s out of control. The good part of the trip was that I ran into Eric from the Bar-B-Q Shop, and I got to thank him again for my free barbecue last night. On the way home, I saw three different signs indicating the outside temperature. One said 104, one said 94, and another said 93. This was at 7:30pm, so I’m guessing the last two were more correct. You know those signs that say "W:The President"? There is a huge one on Union that says "J: The Messiah." Memphis is a wacky, wacky place. This ramble was brought to you by a heat-induced haze.
