After a loud storm last night, Christmas Day ended up being pretty darn mellow. Just me, mom, dad, and the three dogs. Mom loved the gift I got her, a framed picture of Winnie, her cat that died recently. And Dad loved his univeral pot lid! My main gift was that beautiful sofa, but I got a few other things: I Like You by Amy Sedaris, the new Jamie Oliver cookbook, some lovely scarves from Peru, and a stamp with my name on it from China. In the afternoon, we watched Little Miss Sunshine, then later headed over for a dinner with local friends.
In this last minute of the day, I wish you a nearly late MERRY CHRISTMAS!
Abby’s mom Says:
I want to thank all of you who posted about Winnie. It’s been almost two weeks now, and I seem to have settled. My mind has separated the fact of Winnie’s death from the manner in which she died, and oddly, I’m finding solace in Annie and Woofie. I’m probably going to write more in depth on this blog, but I really want to thank each of you. Your words meant a great deal to me. Both here, and in private e-mails, you shared words of comfort, similar stories, and memories of Winnie. I’d forgotten her strange fondness for raw vegetables – even mushrooms. You made me cry and smile. That was a great help. I didn’t have many of your e-mail addresses, so I hope you read this and know how much I appreciate your caring.

Been meaning to post this for a while…
Dear Abby,
This is a club/place/hangout outside Summerville, GA. Folks can come here and do their karaoke thing and dance. You can, too.
Please join us.
Happy Birthday, Mom! Sorry it took me so long today to get my birthday celebrating butt in gear, but I’m in SPACE lately.
Everyone, I have a favor to ask. My mom was supposed to have a surprise party tonight, but for a number of reasons, several of the guests won’t be able to attend, so please, would you, send some happy birthday love to Abby’s Mom, who turns 64 today.
