Is it WHOOOO or HOOOOO? Either way, those are great pictures of that grey owl. He’s so adorable and fluffy, but underneath I’m sure he’s a KILLER!!!

So if a real owl is afraid of blue jays, how can a plastic owl be lame for allowing pidgeons to sit on it’s head?
Maybe the cool owl is lame and the lame owl is really cool?

Actually, I believe the fake owls are designed to ward off bats, not birds. For the record, it appears to be working in that sense.
The other pics are very cute. Perhaps it’s time for “Make Way for Owls.”

Ooooh. I have a pair of owls that visit my backyard sometimes. I’m not sure what kind they are. I believe the variety to be known as BIG-ASSED. But that might not be the official binomial nomenclature… I have to be sure to accompany my gf’s dog because I’m afraid one of them will swoop down and turn pet into prey.

Why would you want to ward off bats? Seriously. Aren’t they helpful to have around?

I think perhaps I was minsinformed. This fancy animatronic one was says it wards off “birds, rabbits, rodents, and other pests.”
Then again, maybe it’d be better if they used this one instead.

The use we had for the ones that don’t move was to ward off pidgeons. If one were to walk on the sidewalks around our apartment complex before the advent of the plastic marvels one would understand the need. Not perfect, but better than anything else to keep the “dirty birds” away. Three buildings and eight plastiques placed at strategic points around the roofs.
