If one were to walk on the sidewalks around our apartment complex before the advent of the plastic marvels one would understand the need. Not perfect, but better than anything else to keep the "dirty birds" away. Three buildings and eight plastiques placed at strategic points around the roofs. I have a pair of owls that visit my backyard sometimes. I'm not sure what kind they are. I believe the variety to be known as BIG-ASSED. But that might not be the official binomial nomenclature...
