Aaron and Sunitha are here telling me how at the end of the marathon is a little ribbon, not a steel barrier, and that is totally the truth. They didn’t ask anything difficult at all. It was easy peasy! Seriously. I had imagined the worst, and it was NUTHIN’! At the end of the thing they send you out before they invite you back in. While I was out in the hall, I found Aaron. I let him come back in the room with me. That’s when they invited me in, each shook my hand, and called me "doctor."

There are a few changes to make, but nothing major. It’s all done!

I need a damn nap!

YYYYYYYYYAAAAAAAAYYYYYYYYYY!!!!!!! I’m so proud of you, and happy for you. I felt the same getting my MFA: I thought the whole thing would be so horrid and awful and that they wouldn’t accept it. Turned out I was the first one at the WHOLE UT to turn mine in to the publication office. Crazy. YAYAYAYAYA!!!! Can’t wait to see you soon!

Yay! Nanu just went to get beer, so that seems fun. We are making yumtastic Indian food. Life is way better. I don’t feel more important, but I feel RELIEVED, and that’s way funner.

Congratulations! Isn’t the defense a sort of let down? The worst thing that happened at mine is when I walked into the room and tripped over the phone cord, disconnecting my director (who was doing the defense remotely). After that, it was OK. Or I was too tired to care… And isn’t that stack of paper when you print it out darn impressive?

I’d wager it’s being NUTHIN’! had a great deal to do with your being SUMTHIN’!, and being sumthin’ kind of prepared. If you’d not been prepared, that little ribbon could sure have seemed like the steel barrier. That’s quite an accomplishment and I bet your folks are just “fit to be tied.” I know I would be if I were them. Congratulations from the geriatric set!!
