Adventures with Dr. Lady Cutie Troublemaker

Life is in flux BIG TIME these days. I want to keep in touch with all of my peeps. The Internet is this beautiful thing. I can move to a brand new city and still stay in easy, near-daily contact with the people I love. When I feel connected to the people in my life that matter, I am unstoppable!

Operation Dottie!

By Abby at 12:56 pm on Friday, September 21, 2007

My friend Dottie recently moved to San Francisco and is living off of her savings until she finds a job. Unfortunately, due to identity theft, her finances have been wiped out.

She’s one of the best photographers on Flickr (IMHO), and in order to raise money while she attempts to deal with getting a job and maybe her money back, too, she’s selling some of her wonderful prints.

You can also request prints of her other Flickr pictures NOT in that gallery. She won’t sell any of the pictures in the 365 set or pictures of friends, but anything else, she’s willing to consider. She’s really good, and I’m not just saying that because she’s in a bit of a fix. Anyone on Flickr knows about her and her talent.

Help a girl out!

This Saturday: The Old Ceremony at Cat’s Cradle

By Abby at 7:23 pm on Tuesday, September 18, 2007

Here’s a performance they did last weekend at the Cranford music festival in New Jersey.

Come see them headline the Cradle on Saturday. If you haven’t heard them before, please read the review I wrote after seeing them the first time and check out their MySpace page to hear some tracks.

If you aren’t convinced, please enjoy the following ACTUAL IM CONVERSATION I had with my friend Sooz in Boston last night (I sent her Talk Straight last week):

12:42 AM
Sooz: Talk Straight is SUCH A BRILLIANT SONG. like … i can’t even explain. amazingness! i listen to it a lot. thank you!
me: I totally know!! It’s genius
Sooz: it is freaky how good it is.
unnaturally good
me: I love it so, so much.
I know!
Papers in Order is pretty great, too
Sooz: possibly one of the top 10 most perfectest songs ever
me: I know
And Get to Love
Sooz: it is weird … never heard of them and then … bam! greatest song ever!
me: I know!
Sooz: hahah

Please Forgive Me

By Abby at 7:14 am on Saturday, September 15, 2007

My next blog post was going to be about the brilliance of Andrew Bird, but I haven’t gotten around to that. This is too priceless to resist:

Life Plots

By Abby at 11:12 pm on Friday, September 14, 2007

“Some plots are moved forward by external events and crises. Others are moved forward by the characters themselves. If I go through that door, the plot continues. The story of me through the door. If I stay here, the plot can’t move forward, the story ends! … Don’t do anything that may move the plot forward. Instead, let’s see if the plot finds you.” (Professor Hilbert of Stranger than Fiction)

This is a good philosophy when it comes to relationships, and a bad one when it comes to job-hunting. To that end, I am going to begin meeting with my friend Molly every Monday morning at a local coffeeshop so that we can help each other come up with a job-hunting plan for the week. She’s unemployed, too.

Happy Birthday, Mom!

Mom's Stylin'!

Now that she’s actually 65, I guess I’ll let her use those AARP benefits without giving her hell! Hope you have a great day, mom!
