Adventures with Dr. Lady Cutie Troublemaker

Life is in flux BIG TIME these days. I want to keep in touch with all of my peeps. The Internet is this beautiful thing. I can move to a brand new city and still stay in easy, near-daily contact with the people I love. When I feel connected to the people in my life that matter, I am unstoppable!

Sweet Boy

Aaron’s done it again. I didn’t think I’d see him until maybe August, and on Friday night, at 5:43pm, I received a picture message on my phone. It was a pictures of Aaron with his car behind him, next to mine. The text said, "Me now." Then there was a knock on the door. He couldn’t even stay 24 hours, but man, I am seriously lucky. SERIOUSLY lucky. He totally wins the prize for BEST BOYFRIEND EVER!

Dad Strikes Again!

By Abby at 12:13 pm on Thursday, June 16, 2005

You may have noticed (f you’ve read for a while) that my Dad is a regular writer of letters to the editor when it comes to issues of social justice. This morning, he sent me an e-mail he wrote to Love in Action, the group that is saving poor Zach from his homosexuality:

TN Mental Illness Law

"Press Conference: LIA will be hosting a press conference on Thursday, June 16, 2005 at 11 a.m. at our facility at 4780 Yale Road. "

At your press conference, please bring the evidence to show that  Zach has been involuntarily committed to treatment at your facility for a mental illness as defined above under the laws of the State of Tennessee, and that your facility is licensed to manage such cases. We’re not interested in what you "think."  We’re interested in the legality of what you "do."

Abby’s Dad, M.D.

Go Dad! Stick it to the homophobic man!

Flying Fuckers

By Abby at 10:18 pm on Wednesday, June 15, 2005

I know I’ve been overblogging the past few days, but there’s been a lot of silly stuff to share. I promise I’ll slow down soon. These things come in waves.

So this dog-sized cockroach was on the wall in the kitchen. It was the second of its kind I saw tonight. I got a broom to kill it, and it took flight into the other room. I, of course, screamed. I hate those flying fuckers. Eek! I really do. So anyway, a little while later, I see Jeep very interested in the bathroom floor, and the little bugger is upside-down, kicking its legs into the air. She is interested but also scared. I mean, she backed away from it. It was, after all, the size of a dog. I got a magazine and THWACK! It, like the guy from earlier, was dead in an Abby-instant.

Please let there be no cockroaches in my bedroom while I sleep. Please oh please. I’m not cut out for this heat or these creatures. I’m really not.
