Adventures with Dr. Lady Cutie Troublemaker

Life is in flux BIG TIME these days. I want to keep in touch with all of my peeps. The Internet is this beautiful thing. I can move to a brand new city and still stay in easy, near-daily contact with the people I love. When I feel connected to the people in my life that matter, I am unstoppable!

London Tube Blasts

By Abby at 8:28 am on Thursday, July 7, 2005

This coverage from London is really freaking me out, since it’s the area of London I know best. For most of the 10 years my ex and I were together, his mother lived off Brick Lane. We always used  either Aldgate East or Liverpool Street Station to go to his mom’s house, which is where we always stayed. The walk to either station was about 5 minutes. Luckily, none of his family live in that area now, but to see reports from across the world in a place I know so well from years of visiting… It’s really strange. I’ve spoken with his family in London, and they are all safe, but these are not minor blasts. The death toll is 40 right now, but you know how these numbers tend to rise.

Here’s the area. The red arrow is where she lived, and the red blur connects the two stations between which the train was traveling when the blast occurred. There were other bombs, but this is the one that I’m talking about:

Here is the BBC News story describing that and the other tube blasts, and here is a link to the main page of stories.

Jeebus. Can’t we all just get along?

AHA! I think I’ve cracked it!

By Abby at 8:01 pm on Wednesday, July 6, 2005

Dianne’s response asking about whether Brooke Shields went to Princeton (yes, she did) prompted me to look up Tom’s bio. Check THIS out:

After graduating, Cruise had no desire to go to college. Instead, he moved to New York and supported himself by doing odd jobs–including busing tables and loading trucks–while attending open calls for stage and film roles. His first part was a small one, a few lines in the movie "Endless Love," starring Brooke Shields and Martin Hewitt. (found here)

Methinks SOMEONE is trying to overcompensate for a little childhood jealousy. I’m just saying.

And I apologize for my inability to stop posting about this stupid topic. Please be tolerant. I am under great stress!

Little Red Monkey

By Abby at 7:48 pm on Wednesday, July 6, 2005

It had been WAY too long since I’d seen my very favorite "Little Red Monkey," so I go looking online, and I come up with THIS! TOTALLY WRONG! That is the incorrect little red monkey (see "incorrect bagel"). THIS is the correct Little Red Monkey. I bid you good day, sir! {SLAM!}

 {peeks head back inside the door just to share another flash fave}

Update: Sara pointed out that I had one of the links wrong. All better now. Phew! That was close!

Tom Cruise Is Nuts Dot Com

By Abby at 5:25 pm on Wednesday, July 6, 2005

When I first saw Tom on Oprah a few weeks ago, I didn’t have the benefit of the rest of the world agreeing that he seemed insane, but I posted about it to my friends on Tribe… about how his display of affection made me REALLY uncomfortable. I can’t tell you how enjoyable it is for me to see everyone else getting creeped out by his behavior.

And so, it was bound to happen. I present to you…

{drum roll, please}
