Adventures with Dr. Lady Cutie Troublemaker

Life is in flux BIG TIME these days. I want to keep in touch with all of my peeps. The Internet is this beautiful thing. I can move to a brand new city and still stay in easy, near-daily contact with the people I love. When I feel connected to the people in my life that matter, I am unstoppable!

Tumbleweed City

Where’d everyone go? I think my feeds might be messed up or something. Anyhoo…

Aaron and I are back from a day with my parents. We lucked out and found a parking space in the North End. After a lovely lunch, we wandered around, caught up with a bit of the Freedom Trail, and then got ourselves caught in a helluva traffic jam on Route 9. Tonight we went to Rani in Brookline – FABULOUS South Indian food. They had Bhel Poori, which (thanks to Nanu) is one of my faves. After dinner, we hit Peet’s, Brookline Booksmith, and then Trader Joe’s to get some cookies made by a friend my parents met on their China tour.

If I get the energy, I’m going to review some of these places on Yelp:

The View Out Our Window

What’s funny is that I noticed the free stereo on the sidewalk from the picture, not from reality. I don’t think I need it though.

Abby and Aaron Do Triv

By Abby at 6:48 pm on Wednesday, October 26, 2005

Well, it turns out that Stump Pub Trivia is super-fun! I was a little worried it would be all kinds of Boston sports stuff, but that was only one category of questions they asked. We met up with Steve and Carol and Ravi and Sonya at Brendan Behan’s Pub. Ravi went to college with me back in the day, and Steve is a local vlogger whose v/blog I started reading/watching when I knew I was going to be moving to JP. It was a wonderful time with lovely company, and I’m certainly hoping to do it again soon. We didn’t win, but we tied for second place, which ain’t too shabby. Our team’s name was "Tlog" as in blog but with a "t" for trivia, which was Steve’s idea. Go Team Tlog! w00t!

I was probably overly flash avoidant with the ole camera, but nothing I hate more than flashy flashy in my face when I’m in a dark bar. I opted for socially good behavior with grainier pictures. Hope you don’t mind.

Carol was photographed only as a blur. She dutifully turned in our awesome answers each time.

Here’s me thinking hard.

Ravi, Steve, and my nose. See how happy?

Nor’easter Vlogging

By Abby at 6:00 am on Wednesday, October 26, 2005

Adventures in Vlogging, Weather Watching, and a little Narcissism. Dad will appreciate this. I recall on vacation when he dragged me out to the beach to watch a hurricane go past. I didn’t get why it was fun then, and I don’t get why it’s fun now. I’ll take hot cocoa any day.

As you can see, the weather here yesterday was something else.

(From Universal Hub who got it from Steve.)

Pumpkin Prankster & A Little Whining

By Abby at 2:55 pm on Monday, October 24, 2005

On the way in to the Pumpkin Thing, we saw a nutty schizophrenic man who was acting as a sort of greeter. Well, HE thought he was a greeter. Mostly, he was ignored. We walked around, and as we were crossing over to the shops by Park Street Station, we heard what sounded like an explosion. We made a joke about how someone didn’t like the pumpkin. This morning at work, when people asked how my weekend was, I mentioned going to the thing at the Common. Turns out maybe out crazy friend was up to no good. The picture in the Herald sure looks like the guy we saw. Good timing for us, I guess. Luckily, no one was hurt.

In other news, it’s going to take a month to fix the mildew/flooding in my office, so we have to set up in the conference room for now. I hate this shit. I’ve had resource problems for over a year now. How about a regular office with a desk and a computer. How about that? Pretty please?

Update: Apparently, it wasn’t our man. Aaron says he thinks this guy looks younger than the nutty guy we saw. They sure look a lot alike, but I think Aaron may be right. Still, I think we heard the bang go down. Weird.
