These are photos of my grandmother, Mildred Burke Lupfer (August 16, 1911 - February 3, 2001). I called her Nanny. After the funeral, Hamilton said that many of the adjectives that people used to describe Nanny described me, too: social, fun, caring. Very flattering. At the funeral, my uncle Mike said that while many people have six degrees of separation between any other person on the planet, Nanny only had two. Even at a party full of psychoanalysts at my parents house, Nanny knew the Great Aunt of a psychoanalyst from Brooklyn. Amazing. She pulled this stunt at my Senior Recital at Oberlin in Ohio as well. What a life she had. These are pictures that my cousin, Eric, had in his possession. Many of them are from Nanny's childhood, and others are from the Depression. I am grateful to him for scanning these pictures in for all of us to see.
