Adventures with Dr. Lady Cutie Troublemaker

Life is in flux BIG TIME these days. I want to keep in touch with all of my peeps. The Internet is this beautiful thing. I can move to a brand new city and still stay in easy, near-daily contact with the people I love. When I feel connected to the people in my life that matter, I am unstoppable!

Jason reviews movies, and he’s REALLY good at it. I know, no flashy pictures, and the blog title is a bit dull, but once you read some of these, you will understand why none of that matters. Just click. DO IT!

Eddie Izzard on The Henry Rollins Show – TONIGHT!

By Abby at 12:36 pm on Saturday, May 20, 2006

Eddie Izzard & Henry Rollins
Tonight, Henry Rollins welcomes Eddie Izzard (as well as Death Cab for Cutie) at 10pm on The Independent Film Channel.

Comic sensation and actor Eddie Izzard is Henry’s special guest for an in-depth, long form interview on "The Henry Rollins Show." Death Cab for Cutie will be performing on the show with a rare acoustic perfomance.

Excellent!

I’m intrigued by the interaction between Eddie and Henry. These are two men who are very clear about who they are and have strong opinions, and thus excel at self-expression. And yet, they are two wildly different people. I wrote HR a letter once, and he wrote back. It made my day during a really sad time in my life.

Hey, you know what would be so cool? A double bill of Eddie & Henry with some shared bits peppered throughout. I’d pay a lot to see that.

Oh, and look what I found. This is going to be GOOD!

Updates

By Abby at 4:28 pm on Friday, May 19, 2006

Pried the Arctic Monkeys out of the CD long enough to put in the Raconteurs, which came in the mail yesterday. It’s KICKASS! Gloriously derivative in all the right ways – Beatles-y, Zeppelin-y, and just excellent in its own right.

Also, bought another container of that toffee and ate the entire fucking thing… in a day. I am a disgusting pig, but a happy one. Y’all forgive my pooch in the pictures from the next few days!

And it’s FRIDAY! And it’s karaoke-time! WAHOO!

Oh, and did anyone catch the reference in the title of the last post? If you did, then you were probably friends with me in the 8th grade.

One more update while I’m doing updates. For those who’ve known me for a while, you will understand that it is HUGELY wonderful news that Hamilton got a real professorship at the University of Leeds for next year. He doesn’t read this blog, so he won’t see your congratulations if you post them here, but you know… if you know him, feel happy for him. This has been a long time coming. If you want his info to send congratulations, let me know, and I’ll hook you up.

Manna

By Abby at 8:49 pm on Wednesday, May 17, 2006

I am in love. I just got it yesterday, and it keeps calling to me. AAAaaaabbbyyyyy! Come and eaaaaat me! Holy SHIT, this stuff is good. I don’t know if it’s just making a brief appearance, or if it’s here to stay. But I will savor every ounce until it’s gone, and then I just may have to get some more. The toffee is that melt-in-your-mouth kind that breaks really easily when you bite into it. The chocolate is slightly sweet, with that rich, slight bitterness I love about dark chocolate. And the pistachios, perfectly toasted. Words just can’t express.

Get you some! Have some of this while you listen to tracks 8-12 of Arctic Monkeys, and seriously, there won’t be much missing in your life. And if you are hit by a bus tomorrow, you will die a happy individual.
