Abby and Aaron are driving past a large field in Nashville.

Abby: What are those people doing? It looks like they are ready to pillage a village, like they should have brooms with fires at the end, like that scene in Frankenstein. It looks like that guy is wearing a cape.

Aaron: I don’t know. It looks like maybe it’s a tarp. Maybe they are going to play Lacrosse.
Abby: I swear it’s a cape. Weird.

2pm

Abby and Aaron are coming back from brunch and a hike, and are once again passing the same field. There is a large group of people fighting in the field… like REALLY fighting, and they are all dressed up.

Abby: Oh my god! You have to park. We have to go see.

Aaron: Totally! I’m going!

A&A park, get out of the car and read a sign:

Abby: Oh my god! We have to call Adam! Do you remember that conversation we had on the way to the Loveless?

Aaron. Yeah.

Abby: I can’t believe I was actually right!

Aaron: I know!

I’ve got the full scoop on Flickr Color Pickrs now. The man who creates them is Jim Bumgardner, and, as he says in his Flickr profile, he does his greatest work on Flickr through software, not through photography. He is extremely talented as a software and visual designer , and he makes macro sense out of the micro (individual pictures) on Flickr. It’s really amazing stuff! Be sure to check out the poster he’s designing for the Squared Circle group.

The reason I thought you could tweak the Colr Pickr was because every large Flickr group photo pool I tried was one for which he’d already tweaked his own software using his big brain! Yesterday, I befriended him on Flickr and asked him to tell me all of the Colr Pickrs he’s created so far. Here they are:

The Urban Decay Colr Pickr is probably my favorite. Urban Decay is part of my daily life these days, and there is actually a certain beauty about it.

I’ve been having a great time with Flickr lately, and there are so many cool toys that people have created using the Flickr database:

• Spell with Flickr (What I used to spell my name above)
• Color Pickr, the original
• Squared Circle Color Pickr, based on pictures in the popular Squared Circle Pool.
• And related to the above Color Pickr idea, I realized that all you have to do is change the end of the URL to match the Flickr group photo pool you like. For example, http://www.krazydad.com/colrpickr/index.php?group=crayonbox will bring up a Color Pickr using all of the photos in the Crayonbox Pool, so it’s endlessly tweakable!
• Flickr Tag Browser
• I started to find even more cool Flickr fun on my own, but this guy has done a fine job, so I’ll just share his blog post about Flickr, and point out some of my favorite links: make computer desktop wallpaper and postcards, and view Flickr pictures on your Tivo!

Last, but hardly least, if you haven’t seen the Flickr Transparent Screens photoset, you must! It’s really amazing. Here’s a ticklr (get it? ticklr?!). Buh-dump!

I knew he was a wonderful guy, but there’s so much about him I didn’t know. I’m ever gladder I knew him at all and ever sadder that he is gone now.
