Flickr Foot Fetishists?
Mom might be mad that I post this, but I think her sense of humor and the chance to discuss it with others will override any sense of etiquette she may have. Come to think of it, I learned my manners from my parents, so perhaps it won’t matter at all.
December 8 – I receive the following e-mail from my mother:
Please tell me what is going on with this picture I posted on Flickr.com. It’s a photo I took on our trip of a 67-year old woman’s new sandals. I uploaded it at noon today, and already 45 people have viewed it. Is this a foot fetish thing? Any ideas?
This morning – I receive another foot-related e-mail from my mother:
This is too funny. As you know, I’ve been fascinated by the many hits I’ve gotten on the photo of my friend’s feet and legs. I even put a note on the picture asking someone to explain why that photo was getting so many views. That was about 80 views ago, and no one has commented. As an experiment, I decided to upload a picture of my own feet – grotesquely swollen from a long day of standing. Overnight, it has been viewed 26 times! What on earth?
I asked if it that was significantly more hits than her other pictures. Her reponse:
Yes. It takes 10 hits to get into my top 200 viewed. The most views I’ve had on any photo other than feet is 39 for a panorama of the Forbidden City, and that took months to amass. Since yesterday, my swollen feet have tied that Forbidden City shot.
Anyone have any insight?
