Adventures with Dr. Lady Cutie Troublemaker

Life is in flux BIG TIME these days. I want to keep in touch with all of my peeps. The Internet is this beautiful thing. I can move to a brand new city and still stay in easy, near-daily contact with the people I love. When I feel connected to the people in my life that matter, I am unstoppable!

Flickrheads! Steal My Idea!

By Abby at 6:54 pm on Tuesday, December 30, 2008

So Andy just Twittered that he copied my idea, and you know, I’d love it if all my favorite photographers copied it, too. Make sure you’re logged into Flickr, then go to SmartSetr, a site I just love (although I wish the creator would update it more and be a little more responsive, to be honest). There, create a new smart set. Call it Best of 2008. The type of smart set is probably going to be Date Taken, although you can choose Date Posted if you prefer. Then pick photos visible to everyone, sorted by Interesting Descending, then pick how many pictures you want in the set. I usually make those sets in multiples of 6 because (1) it’s a cool film-like number and (2) it makes the rows nice and even. Set the dates for all of last year. Then once you’re done, it’ll all save to Flickr. Happy happy! Just remember that you need to edit that set from within SmartSetr, not Flickr, or it’ll get messed up. Here’s Andy’s set: Link and here’s mine.

Hey! Let’s Go Do Fun Stuff!

By Abby at 4:08 pm on Monday, December 1, 2008

I got some great gifts for my birthday. My parents got me a real, dedicated GPS. Most people use it on trips. I use it to get through a normal day. My brain is good at many things, and pretty freakin’ flawed at others – ESPECIALLY directionality.

My friends Ayse and David got me the most fitting t-shirt ever. They said it was very me, and I totally agree. Since I got it, my new favorite thing to say is, “Hey! Let’s go do fun stuff!”

Not sure I ever appropriately thanked @ayse and @daveb for the awesome bday tee!

Jake’s gift to me was so great! Well, actually, there were two. The BIG one was a two-day trip to Charleston. I’d never been, and we had the best time. The gift I was thinking of was the framed picture of us. It’s a picture Andy took and that I edited originally, only I didn’t have a large version of my edit anywhere, so Jake had to emulate my edit as best as he could. He did a great job. And it was just sweet as hell to give me that. Yay for Jake!

Early Voting is COOL!

By Abby at 4:11 pm on Thursday, October 16, 2008

See? I’m doing it. Ayse’s doing it. A bunch of other people at the mall are doing it. If you early vote, then you can spend election day volunteering to get OTHER people to the polls. That’s what I’m doing. For once, I’d like to show the rest of the world that we give a shit about our government. Is that so wrong?

I VOTED! Voter #818, NCCU campus, Durham, NC. on TwitPic

Here are the Wake County Early Voting Locations. Also, how weird is it that I voted at a mall?!! It was great to see such a fine turnout on Day One of early voting.
