Adventures with Dr. Lady Cutie Troublemaker

Life is in flux BIG TIME these days. I want to keep in touch with all of my peeps. The Internet is this beautiful thing. I can move to a brand new city and still stay in easy, near-daily contact with the people I love. When I feel connected to the people in my life that matter, I am unstoppable!

A Better View of Michael Moore

By Abby at 4:11 pm on Tuesday, July 24, 2007

Andy Carvin, a fellow Boston blogger gone south, is now working at NPR. Yesterday, he got a chance to meet Michael Moore and has posted video of his NPR interview. I think my Indie Film Meetup friends will be particularly happy to see this.

After his recent controversial appearance on CNN, it was nice to see him in a place that felt safe to him. I’m glad Andy left the bit in at the very where they are talking about Cat Stevens/Harold and Maude. It’s nice to see him interacting more informally.

You can read more about Michael Moore at NPR on Andy’s blog.

Celebrity Gossip: Friend Edition

By Abby at 6:05 pm on Monday, July 23, 2007

My best friend in high school was Lesley. She didn’t move to Atlanta until just before our senior year started. We met because she lived near me, and she ended up riding to school with me in the mornings.

Since I have to study, no time for lots of old stories, so I will make a long story short. Lesley grew up, moved to L.A., and married Demi Moore’s brother, Morgan. I was the only friend of hers who came to the very small wedding. Morgan didn’t make the best impression on me. The first thing he said to me was, “Oh, you’re the one married to that English guy, right?” “Yeah, that’s me.” His response? “I thought all English guys were fags.” Lovely. The main things I noticed about him were that he was very good looking, very obnoxious, and he had a lot of paintball and gun magazines sitting around their condo at this resort where the wedding was being held. He did seem to really love Lesley, so I was happy about that. Well, that was many years ago. Since then, Lesley gave birth to twins. I haven’t seen her in forever, but we stay in touch some. Recently, I got an email from her saying that she knew I loved gossip, so I should get the Star Magazine with Jennifer Aniston on the cover. That one wasn’t in my local CVS, so I got her to give me the scoop. She sent me here:

Demi Moore Bankrolling Her Brother’s Divorce Even Though He Did The Cheating And A Whole Lot More

The thought of Lesley uttering the sentence “Keep Your Hands Off My Babies!” cracks me up!

The one really good part about all of this is that it is likely that Lesley will be moving back to Atlanta in the near future, so I should be able to see her more often.

Demi Moore may have a lot of money and power, but I swear, Lesley is the spunkiest and about the most clever person I know. I think she’ll pull through just fine. Still, pisses me off that she’s been disrespected like this.

I’d post a picture of us, but I’d have to scan it, and that’s not studying!

Back in the Day: Housequake

By Abby at 1:46 pm on Thursday, July 19, 2007

I went to high school with some highly talented individuals. Recently, an old classmate of mine uploaded some videos from the senior banquet to YouTube after some discussion of said video on the little social networking site I created for the upcoming 20 year reunion. This one is my favorite (of course my favorite isn’t the one that shows my horrible 80s hair!). Seriously, check this shit out:
