Adventures with Dr. Lady Cutie Troublemaker

Life is in flux BIG TIME these days. I want to keep in touch with all of my peeps. The Internet is this beautiful thing. I can move to a brand new city and still stay in easy, near-daily contact with the people I love. When I feel connected to the people in my life that matter, I am unstoppable!

When He’s 64

By Abby at 11:06 pm on Friday, December 2, 2005

Happy Birthday to "my old man." But first, a song:

When I’m 64

When I get older, losing my hair, many years from now,
Will you still be sending me a Valentine, birthday greetings, bottle of wine?
If I’d been out ’till quarter to three, would you lock the door?
Will you still need me, will you still feed me when I’m sixty-four?
You’ll be older, too, and if you say the word, I could stay with you.
I could be handy, mending a fuse, when your lights have gone.
You can knit a sweater by the fireside, Sunday mornings, go for a ride.
Doing the garden, digging the weeds, who could ask for more?
Will you still need me, will you still feed me, when I’m sixty four?
Every summer we can rent a cottage in the Isle of Wight if it’s not to dear.
We shall scrimp and save.
Ah, grandchildren on your knee: Vera, Chuck, and Dave.
Send me a postcard, drop me a line stating point of view.
Indicate precisely what you mean to say, yours sincerely wasting away.
Give me your answer, fill in a form, mine forever more.
Will you still need me, will you still feed me, when I’m sixty four?

OK, no grandchildren, and instead of a cottage in the Isle of Wight, it’s a cabin in the North Georgia Mountains and a tiny urban getaway in Boston. Whatever the case, Happy Birthday Dad! Hope 64 is a grand year for you. 😀

I created this in honor of a little discussion on my dad’s blog. You can make a magazine cover, too.

You Asked For It!

By Abby at 6:50 am on Monday, August 1, 2005

Abby’s Dad should totally get his own blog. Duh! Ask and ye shall receive:

Click on the typewriter to see.

This weekend, Dad said that Andy and Al were up for it, and so within about an hour, Aaron and I had designed a little blog. We showed it to my Dad the next morning, and he liked our design. It might be a slow launch, but I’m really excited about it, especially because there is a real blog post in it this morning.

Help me welcome my three favorite old men in the world to the blogosphere!

For a little preview, check out the Dad’s Wisdom category on this blog.

LIA/R Story in the New York Times

By Abby at 8:15 am on Saturday, July 16, 2005

Memphis Bloggers and the Queer Action Coalition (and my Dad!) ought to feel extremely proud of themselves. Zach’s story and the injustices at the Refuge and Love in Action are in the New York Times today:

Gay Teenager Stirs a Storm

BugMeNot gave me "curiousgeorge4" as a username and "opensesame" as a password to get in.

On My Way Out/Attention Memphis Bloggers!

By Abby at 10:09 am on Thursday, July 14, 2005

So my internship ends on August 19th, and once it’s over, it’s all packing and moving and stuff. I’d like to have another Blogger Bash before I go. One idea I was tossing around was having it when my parents are here since they have posted so much on my blog and since my dad has been so active in writing letters related to Zach and LIA/R. Right now, it’s looking like my parents will be in town 7/29-7/31 (Friday through Sunday). I know we usually have these things during the week, but I figured if we had one just after work on Friday or Sunday night, I could still get people to come. What do you think, Oh Memphis Bloggers Thee?
