What the?! Or, Why Is My Tongue Black?

Why Does My Tongue Look Like This?

So if you woke up after your first night of good sleep in weeks (9 hours, to be exact), and your tongue looked like mine does above, what would you do? BTW, this has happened before, albeit infrequently. I mean, what the hell? I’m sort of assuming it’s just another symptom of working WAY too much and living under extreme stress. Any thoughts? If this has turned your stomach, I do apologize for the intrusion.

Lemme guess. You’ve been using pepto bismal or the like.

Ok, so your pic didn’t gross me out. I found it sort of intriguing.

Then I googled for black tongue. *That* grossed me out. 🙂

Hey, I think I DID take a pepto last night. Why would that make my tongue black?

I had the same problem once and it was due to poor ventilation. The tongue acts as a filter along with your tonsils to protect you from foreign airborne objects. Did you have candles burning before you slept, or maybe cooked something that had caused a lot of smoke to be in the vicinity of where you sleep? Or if you smoke, and had smoked a lot that evening that could also cause it..
My suggestion would be if it continues, see a physician to find out the underlying reason because sweetie that is not normal!!!

I’m pretty sure Pepto has charcoal or something in it. It says on the back it can make your poop black. Well, I’m sure they use different wording. So maybe it does the same thing to your tongue. But yeah, that’s not normal, man.

No, I’m quite sure now that it’s only after pepto usage. I don’t smoke, burn candles, fill my apartment with smoke.

Yeah, Pepto is the first thing I thought of, too. It’s the bismuth in it, I think, that creates the black tongue thing. Now, you need a picture of that tongue and you in the green dress. Hot.

Yeah, pepto. I had side effects myself after we took it on Friday night. Bye.

sweety its called fungiform papilitis: fungus on your tongue. may be a result of poor diet, taking antibiotics, stress, poor dental/tongue hygeine. if you are stresses, get some good rest, go on a good cleansing regime (internal).

In Annie’s case, we thought it meant she was part chow, but then it turned out she was part Rhodesian Ridgeback. 🙂
