Adventures with Dr. Lady Cutie Troublemaker

Life is in flux BIG TIME these days. I want to keep in touch with all of my peeps. The Internet is this beautiful thing. I can move to a brand new city and still stay in easy, near-daily contact with the people I love. When I feel connected to the people in my life that matter, I am unstoppable!

KABOOM!!

By Abby at 2:20 pm on Friday, March 24, 2006

Gah! Just put my headphones because they are doing loud behavior therapy with a kid in the next room, and it’s hard to write. I put in my headphones, then realized I had my system muted. Unmuted, and KABOOM!!!!! GAAAAHHHH!!!! 50 Foot Wave sure is loud! When did I turn the volume all the way up? I seriously think I might have damaged my hearing… at least temporarily. I’m like Pete Townsend! Anne will be so impressed! Where’s my amp? I need to throw this file up in the air, catch it, then SMASH! And maybe some onstage – I mean on-desk – explosions.

The song that did it was "Hot Pink, Distorted," about 10 seconds in.

So, whadaya think, young lady? Think your dad has given up the ghost of blogdom, or merely taken the sabbitical from the drudgery of daily writing? I’ve seen no real activity in either, nor any response to emails sent separately. I trust he and Abby’s mom are doing OK. His next to the last posting to 3oldmen (Feb. 20) did talk about a trip to the hinterlands. Is that what’s holding back his writing genius?

It’s a few things. First, he’s been helping some local people build a web site. He’s also decided recently (because of the stuff I’ve been dealing with) that the internet is evil. Of course he’s kind of right, but in my experience over the past few years, the die hards go through this from time to time. Totally normal. All that said, mom and dad have just left for 10 days building Habitat houses in Mississippi. You won’t hear from him for a while longer. Still, I know my Dad. I have a feeling he’ll be back. You just can’t rush him. What you need is a feed reader so you don’t have to keep checking back all the time. I recommend Bloglines. You could also try this e-mail notification service.

Just checking in from Mississippi where I can walk this morning! After 8 hours of hard physical labor yesterday, hauling lumber and hammering, I worried that I might be worthless for the rest of the week, but Sunday is a day of rest here, and I’m told that the first day is the most physical. We’ll be back at it tomorrow. I didn’t take my camera yesterday, but I will tomorrow so that we can post some of our activity. Also, it’s supposed to be a big secret here, but we are being filmed by a VERY major network program, so when we get a date, I’ll let all of you know when you can see us.
