Adventures with Dr. Lady Cutie Troublemaker

Life is in flux BIG TIME these days. I want to keep in touch with all of my peeps. The Internet is this beautiful thing. I can move to a brand new city and still stay in easy, near-daily contact with the people I love. When I feel connected to the people in my life that matter, I am unstoppable!

STORM!

By Abby at 5:46 pm on Friday, December 9, 2005

OK, yes it has snowed before, but IT SNOWED today. REALLY snowed. Terrible blizzard. It started snowing around 6am, and it only stopped at around 4:30pm. My usual 25 minute commute ended up being about 1.5 hours. Lots of stalled cars, cars stuck going up hills, and emergency vehicles. Very happy to be home now. VERY happy.

Wow! That looks like it totally sucks, and will continue to suck for some time. I am happy to report that our forecast for snow turned out to be rain—freezing cold rain yesterday. Yipee!

If a snow of that magnitude ever hits Memphis, may The Flying Spaghetti Monster have mercy on us all. Our regular snow abatement program (“Stay the fuck home until it melts”) would mean staying home ’til March.

Which would be OK by me, but for the fact I’d starve long before that.

I would have stayed home, but I’m in Florida with the air conditioning on.

Please note the phone picture from my ride home over to the right. I always say that the difference between the north and the south when it comes to snow storms is simple. In the south, there is not financial imperative to buy snow equipment because it doesn’t happen very often. That and there’s no experience to go on. Here, it sucked yesterday, but I awoke this morning to a plowed street and driveway, and my car is happily parked in our garage. It’s not too bad. Actually now it’s just pretty.
