Adventures with Dr. Lady Cutie Troublemaker

Life is in flux BIG TIME these days. I want to keep in touch with all of my peeps. The Internet is this beautiful thing. I can move to a brand new city and still stay in easy, near-daily contact with the people I love. When I feel connected to the people in my life that matter, I am unstoppable!

I’m green with envy… of all my friends in Boston. I’m going to have to get Jon to go for me. Damn. DAMN! I can’t believe I’ll miss this reunion. Kristin and Tanya, together again. Damn. DAMN!!!

On Saturday, October 6th, 2007, Throwing Muses co-founders (and stepsisters) Kristin Hersh and Tanya Donelly will perform together on stage at our beloved Brattle Theatre here in Cambridge, Massachusetts. For two separate shows, each will play a solo set, followed by a set together, which will no doubt include old (and maybe new?) Muses songs. Amazing… [More]

Thanks, Brad, for posting this. By the way, I hate you!!

Starlite Drive-In Flickr Meetup

By Abby at 10:26 pm on Tuesday, July 24, 2007

Tom (aka Roninvision) arranged a really cool outing for the Raleigh Social Group on Flickr. We headed to Durham to the Starlite Drive-In. It closed recently after its long-time owner passed away. The family wanted to have as many pictures as possible, and so we stepped in to help! A lot of really great images have appeared in the last two days. Take a look at all the photos my photographer friends and I have uploaded so far.

Attack of the Enematic Bubblers

By Abby at 9:10 pm on Tuesday, July 24, 2007

My friend Shannon got this e-mail from her gym on Friday:

Hello,

Please excuse this interruption of your day, this is your Aquatics Department Head at Lifetime Fitness giving you a friendly hello and wishing you a great day!

We have another piece to the puzzle concerning the frequent pool closures and are trying to share it with as many of our members as possible. The “bubblers” at the shallow end of the pool, those fountains of fun shooting up from the floor are great fun and entertainment for the young ones but we have noticed that the last two closures have been the result of older children not controlling their bowel movements and so believe that the “bubblers” also act as an enema. When children plant their bottoms on or above the jets they are at risk of losing control of their BMs.

I have been trying to inform parents with children frolicking in the “bubblers”. Once again they are a lot of fun, to play in, run through, run hands through and what not but children should not plant themselves over the jets.

I hope that this helps! See you on the pool deck!

A Better View of Michael Moore

By Abby at 4:11 pm on Tuesday, July 24, 2007

Andy Carvin, a fellow Boston blogger gone south, is now working at NPR. Yesterday, he got a chance to meet Michael Moore and has posted video of his NPR interview. I think my Indie Film Meetup friends will be particularly happy to see this.

After his recent controversial appearance on CNN, it was nice to see him in a place that felt safe to him. I’m glad Andy left the bit in at the very where they are talking about Cat Stevens/Harold and Maude. It’s nice to see him interacting more informally.

You can read more about Michael Moore at NPR on Andy’s blog.
