Adventures with Dr. Lady Cutie Troublemaker

Life is in flux BIG TIME these days. I want to keep in touch with all of my peeps. The Internet is this beautiful thing. I can move to a brand new city and still stay in easy, near-daily contact with the people I love. When I feel connected to the people in my life that matter, I am unstoppable!

Update on the Whiny Stuff: Things are Looking Up

By Abby at 4:21 pm on Monday, January 15, 2007

I wrote this earlier, but I was writing it directly into the dashboard using Internet Explorer since I couldn’t get Firefox to launch, and all of a sudden, it just closed, with all of my tabs. God, I hate IE. Anyway, wanted to update about all my whinings, since you don’t want to bitch and moan, then not follow-up when stuff starts getting better again. It was just the conglomeration of irritants yesterday. It wasn’t good. So, with that in mind, here are the improvements:

  • I found the Target stuff! I had taken individual items out of the bag and placed then in a stack on a closet shelf, and even though I’d looked around in that general vicinity more than once, it was camogflaged to me somehow. Hoorah!
  • Knives are still MIA, but I will find them soon.
  • The toothache isn’t gone, but my dad has called in an antibiotic so I can get this infection under control, and a few locals have offered dentist recs, so I should be addressing the pain and the core problem soon.
  • Firefox is working! I ended up going in using Safe Mode and uninstalling some extensions and Greasemonkey scripts, and it’s all better.

So all is much improved from yesterday. Now to address this insomnia. I need a book or a pill or something. Grrrr.

Watch that tooth! I just was in the dentist’s chair 4 frickin’ hours today. I had cavities I didn’t know I had. But I also had one under a crown on a dead tooth-not fun, but I’m glad they are fixed. Hope you don’t have the dreaded RC heading your way.

I’ve had two already, and they keep getting infected, over and over again. It’s not good.

My dentist is Dr. Bufano — he even has a web site:

He’s super nice!

Hey Abby! Sorry to hear you have insomnia. I had it for 10 years and cured it by learning to meditate. I use a relaxation body scan guided meditation on CD and use it just as I am going to sleep –lights off, media off. After two weeks of practicing I have been cured! Now I use it when I am particularly stressed but not necessarily every day. You just need to break the cycle of insomnia. Try it!

My problem is getting in the bed. When I’m there, I conk. I don’t even know if it’s insomnia as much as it’s a self-regulation issue. When I live alone, it’s bad. When I don’t have a set schedule, it’s worse.
