We Must Disenthrall Ourselves

By Abby at 10:59 am on Tuesday, September 26, 2006

When Adam says that Keith Olbermann has been talking, I have learned to shut off my avoidance of all things political and listen. I’m so glad I took 10 1/2 minutes of my life to listen to him. I urge you to do the same. If you are of the same mind as me about the current administration, your hairs will stand up on the back of your neck.

A teaser quote to get you interested:

Then again, Chris Wallace might be braver still. Had I — in one moment surrendered all my credibility as a journalist — and been irredeemably humiliated, as was he, I would have gone home and started a new career selling seeds by mail.

He’s a Little Fat Man with a Pug-Nosed Face

As a huge fan of both the original BBC version of “The Office” and David Bowie, I howled when I saw this. It’s excellent. Watch and giggle like me.

gSpace has gotten even cooler

By Abby at 9:43 am on Monday, September 25, 2006

I know this only be of interest to about 2 of you (if that), but I use the Firefox extension gSpace regularly. It’s a way of using your GMail account as file storage in a pretty organized way. It works like FTP. With the latest update, you can actually play songs right from gSpace without downloading them to the computer you’re using. There’s a new photo mode, too. Very groovy!

I Miss Clinton

By Abby at 12:58 pm on Sunday, September 24, 2006

God, I miss Clinton. His presidency was the only time in my life that I was able to engage politically, able to understand what the hell was going on. I have no inherent interest in politics myself, but when Clinton was president, I felt like he spoke, and I understood. He organized the barrage of information for me and told me in an organized way what was going on, and why it should matter to me as an American. He never spoke in vague cliches. There were always specific examples, which he pulled right out of the encyclopedia in his head, to help me and everyone else “get it”. Damn, I miss him. Will there ever be such a president again?
