Help Me with My iTunes Disaster!

By Abby at 5:25 pm on Monday, April 17, 2006

My iTunes situation is beyond fucked. I began with one medium-sized problem, and I’ve grown it into a mammoth problem. If you consider yourself an expert on iTunes in any capacity, please consider reading this Ask MeFi thread, and if you have any ideas, please contact me. I’m in dire need of tech support, and I’m running out of ideas. You will sense my frustration in my last few comments.

I’m not sure if this is helpful (and remember I HATES those folks) but I have heard that too many songs will crash an iPod (regardless of its memory capacity) because it sucks all the battery’s energy to sort and upload them. Plus there is some vital upload functions that must be done each time ya connects to the iPod – iTunes place. (We’ve been through this already with the kids iPods)…and it does fix the problems…

But I still HATEs Steven Jobs…Bleh! A POX on all his iTunes!

I’ve given up on the iPod for now. I think I just made it even worse. I finally decided to uninstall iTunes everywhere, restart, then reinstall it just on my laptop. I then I set the iTunes folder to the G drive (desktop), and set it to consolidate the library. Nothing happened. Now I have no music at all connected to my iTunes. Quelle disaster!

My latest idea is that iTunes needs to be removed completely from the registry, with a fresh start. Because when you install iTunes for the very first time, doesn’t it do some autodiscovery thing? I need an expert. It’s out of control! This wins for most persistent and irritating tech problem ever.
