San Diego?

San Diego is the place Dad said to look… Hmm…

(Although I might be happier in a position not intended for Master’s level training.)

SD is a superb locale in my eyes but if you’re looking to avoid excessive heat during the summer months, you might look elsewhere.
From the looks of things, you’ve compiled quite a bit of research. SD is one step away from Mexico–doncha know that’s HOT?!?

SD has little in the way of excessively high heat in the summer. SD is rarely above 90 what with it being on the ocean and all. It’s a very expensive area and the traffic is horrible. However, if you like the heat, one of the hottest areas in the USA is only a couple of hours away due east into the desert towards Yuma, AZ. SD offers lots of things to do and is a tourist mecca. The caveat being that it’s nothing like living east of the Rockies. You might try one of your blogging societies for information from those who live there.

You know, that just doesn’t sound right at all! Terrible traffic is something I’m trying to get away from. Especially bad traffic on old and outdated roads.

SD city schools is looking for school psychologists. The weather is perfect in SD, lots lots of things to do, but it is very expensive. You will need a different license for school psychologists; go to dept of education website.

I would recommend you look at CA board of psychology. They have totally different licensing requirement, e.g., you need to sign an agreement before your post-doc. The supervisor needs to take classes in supervision….

good luck.

Yeah. California is about the worst place to try to get a license in the country. I hear it’s that way for pretty much every field, too. Weird. The license matters for independent practice, but I can still practice and work towards licensure and make a fine living on the way. I’ll just have to have someone supervising me along the way, which is hardly a hardship. Right now, it’s looking more and more like CA or NC. While NC is closer to my parents, California feels safer in lots of way because I have a base of social support there (because of Tribe). I’ll just keep my eyes open for job and see what happens. I feel like my fact finding mission is coming to a close, so for a while, I’m just going to keep my RSS feeds set on jobs on those two places to see what I can see. Being an independent grownup is hard! While I liked the idea of having full independence of choosing where to live, the time I did it ended up being a disaster, and the time I followed someone somewhere (to Indiana), it turned out pretty well!
