Adventures with Dr. Lady Cutie Troublemaker

Life is in flux BIG TIME these days. I want to keep in touch with all of my peeps. The Internet is this beautiful thing. I can move to a brand new city and still stay in easy, near-daily contact with the people I love. When I feel connected to the people in my life that matter, I am unstoppable!

Local Boys Make Good!

Look what Steve and Joseph made:

Well done! Makin’ JP proud! 😀

In other news, the artist with the stereo across the way has started playing music out his window again. That means Spring has sprung. Right now he’s playing Curtis Mayfield. Love me some Superfly!

Maps Shmaps

By Abby at 10:47 pm on Wednesday, March 29, 2006

I got this message on Flickr today:

… I am writing to let you know that eight of your photos with a creative commons license have been short-listed for inclusion in our Schmap Boston Guide, to be published mid-April 2006…

It went on to say how I could approve my images for use in their guide. Pretty cool! I was really flattered. Hopefully, some of my pics will make it in.

You Tube vs. Google Video vs. Vimeo

By Abby at 8:04 pm on Wednesday, March 29, 2006

I’ve recently started uploading some of my videos. I have lots of them from the past few years. I did a little bit of looking around, and You Tube seemed to be the most intuitive interface, and that’s what I wanted. While it’s not perfect, so far I’m very happy. Some of the features I really like are:

  • Automatic trackbacks for each public video you upload
  • The ability to create infinite categories of friends, so I can upload myself doing virtuous things and only share those with my Amish relatives (OK, you got me. I’m rarely all that virtuous – too much cussing – and I have no Amish relatives), and I can upload videos of me and my friends acting like fools and only share those with people in the proper inner circle to see. This took me a few days to work out, but now I have it all straight, and I’m pretty happy about it (as, I’m sure, are my friends).
  • Videos seem to start and load much more quickly on You Tube than on Google Video.
  • Super easy to get things on my blog. No learning curve at all.
  • Tagging, beautiful tagging.

I found this article comparing You Tube and Google Video. I think I made the right choice.

Boston: Spectacular Views from Above

By Abby at 11:32 am on Wednesday, March 29, 2006

Kristin’s friend, Patty, invited us to join her for a U Mass event at the top of one of those pretty tall buildings on Franklin. I bought my camera along and clicked away like mad. I love the results. 😀

Update: I inspired someone, and they inspired me to comment.
