Adventures with Dr. Lady Cutie Troublemaker

Life is in flux BIG TIME these days. I want to keep in touch with all of my peeps. The Internet is this beautiful thing. I can move to a brand new city and still stay in easy, near-daily contact with the people I love. When I feel connected to the people in my life that matter, I am unstoppable!

JP in the Globe

There’s an article about my neighborhood, Jamaica Plain, in the Globe today. Here’s the PDF, in case they decide to delete it some time in the future. It may piss some people off, but it’s got a LOT right about my ‘hood for sure.

He really hit it on the head.

I think he focussed a bit too much on Starbucks. There are several coffee shops and bakeries in town so that’s not really missing. (Besides, wouldn’t we rather have the far superior Peet’s?)

The problem really is the basic services he mentions. A grocery store, a place to buy some pants. I think the huge Footlocker on Centre Street (how do they even stay open) is really out of place. A Gap would be a much better fit for the community and would better use the space.

When we need any sort of essentials like that, we find ourselves going to Coolidge Corner most of the time. It’s only a 15 minute drive but it’s over an hour by train or bus and that is just ridiculous.

And the one thing I only saw mentioned but not investigated, why is it that JP has the worst streets of any part of Boston bar none?

I have no idea. Seriously. Seaverns was ripped to shit right before winter and has ENORMOUS potholes, way worse than anyplace else I drive in Boston. I don’t get it. Don’t they want new residents to like it and to stay?!
