Which Rain Jacket Should I Get?

Should I get a stylish one? A functional one? One with a hood? Lined? Unlined? I have been obsessed with this question over the last few days. These are the ones that have made the cut. Tell me which you like best. I have to find one that works with pale, monochromatic me AND can handle big hips and a small upper half. It’s a tall order, but I’m sure I can come up with something.

Again, take a look at the contenders and come back here to comment. Make sure to use the nifty numbers so I know which one you are talking about.

I think one of the difficulties with this list is that some of them (6, 8, 12 - maybe 1 & 3) are far more casual than the others. In my mind, that makes them a little bit apples/oranges for a real comparison.

Maybe you should think (and post) about how you want to wear this and where you see needing this the most, etc.

I think you need two! A functional one (with a hood in the olive or blue) and a dressy one for going out in. And since it’s your birthday soon and Christmas is around the corner-you may just get two! ; )

Yeah! Buying two is a good idea!

I like #3 and #11. Both are quite different from each other. Car coats rule though! So warm, and they are long enough for protection from rain, but not too long to wear with jeans.

I like that pale green color too, I’ll bet it looks good on you.

I like either 2 or 10. But the idea of a more-casual one and a dressier one is interesting.

Evidence of the shopping nature of you gals coming to the foreground in your comments gives me hope that you are feeling a lot better than you seemed to the other day when telling of the wearing of the heart monitor. I only hope the theory is true, and that you are indeed doing better.
Shopping seems to appease my wife as nothing else does. Both from the ravages of whatever might be ailing her and the trials and traumas of just getting through the day. So,… keep on truckin’ down those store aisles, gal. Those treks seems to do wonders. Body and soul.
Shoot, just buy all of them. Those plastic cards are wonderful for stuff like that. Just kidding, of course.

NO! I don’t do crazy buying like that. Well, not often. I never really felt all that bad, although I was anxious… you know, because it sucked when it happened and was scary. But it was a one-off thing, and I’ve felt physically better since. I keep meaning to buy a rain thingy, and since my bday is coming up, I have to be thoughtful, as the parents are shelling out for this one. I’m strategic!

Better decide quick. I’ve got 8 days to order it and get it to you for your birthday.

Hi Abby (Thanks for the email. I feel more like the actual police than the fashion police, but here goes:)
9’s hot.
11 would look great on you; its sunny-ness is similar to / suits you.
However, I think 3 is the overall winner: it’s the most thorough and practical and wouldn’t look dumpy.
I can’t see buying two [it's the pauper in me], even with your good fortune of it being on Mom.
But if you did, I think 3 & 11 would be nice and complementary.
