Adventures with Dr. Lady Cutie Troublemaker

Life is in flux BIG TIME these days. I want to keep in touch with all of my peeps. The Internet is this beautiful thing. I can move to a brand new city and still stay in easy, near-daily contact with the people I love. When I feel connected to the people in my life that matter, I am unstoppable!

Sit down, Abby!

When I’m working at the Memphis City Schools, people are always making fun of me for working while standing up. They say, as they walk past, "Your butt is up in the air again!" or, "Sit down!" I think I’ve always been a better thinker on my feet than sitting down. Imagine my glee when I found this web site. Apparently, I’m amongst other genii like Winston Churchill, Thomas Jefferson, and Virginia Wolf! Someday, it will be mine. Oh yes, it will be mine!

This one is my favorite:

Update: Doh! But I was going to save for this ridiculously cool item first! Note to self: Practice the Buddhist principle of nonattachment!

Not a washer. Not a dryer. This thing does BOTH!

I seem to recall there was a positive fad for stand-up desks a few years ago. You’re not that unusual.

Then again, it is those endearing personal quirks of yours that make you so beloved of us Memphis bloggers. :-)

Or Wargames…

“How about a nice game of chess?”

I like a washer/dryer combo I can communicate with.

When I worked at an architecture firm I loved the high desks/drafting tables. It easily allowed for you to stand at the desk as well as use a high chair when you wanted.

I hadn’t thought of it before but a stand up desk would be really cool. Maybe I could just build a riser for the desk I have now.

Holy crap. I must have that washer/dryer.

Then again, wouldn’t it be more timely? Usually I toss in another load when the previous one is in the dryer.

I don’t do that. I forget I’m doing laundry, and the clothes mold. This way seems way better!

We looked at those washer/dryer combos for our tiny flat. Some of them leak and/or sound like jet engines, is what I read. The expensive ones are sposta be cool, though. (Figures.)

Working standing up is cool!

I’ve always wanted one of these! They are so cute, but ho ar they on energy? I’m all about the energy these days. In fact, next week I get rid of my car and trade it in for a bike. I feel like such a mormon (except where is my hot little sidekick!).

When are you coming to New England??? We gotta hang out. I’ll take the Peter Pan bus to Boston and we will chill.

I found this after looking at several (just because I can’t afford it doesn’t mean I can’t shop around!). All of you who are interested, take a look at Epinions’ reviews. I compared the Energy Star compliant models, then I picked the one with 9 decent reviews. I’m always really skeptical if there’s only one review of something.

We will be there by the first of September. Yay! Hanging out in Boston will be so much fun!

I’ve read about and seen those desks before, but for me it sounds like torture. My arthritic knees couldn’t handle it. On the other hand, I remember when I was in college, on each hall we had one pay phone with a school desk beneath it. I used to stand in the seat of the desk and lean against the wall to talk – sometimes for a long time. Usually, I wasn’t even aware of having gotten into that position until someone came by and looked at me strangely.
