It's easy to understand why he's feeling that he's a lot more than gay, a lot more than a cause celebre', and he mainly wants to talk to friends he knows. In fact, that's probably the whole point of the story. Adolescence is a 'coming into being' that isn't particularly easy or clear for anyone. A few months ago, he didn't want to be under the LIA microscope. Now, he doesn't want to be under another microscope. Smart guy... It’s hard to imagine being Zach right now.
