Life is in flux BIG TIME these days. I want to keep in touch with all of my peeps. The Internet is this beautiful thing. I can move to a brand new city and still stay in easy, near-daily contact with the people I love. When I feel connected to the people in my life that matter, I am unstoppable!

It's great when compared to most of the US. The green line is slow. I used to live on the D line back in the early 90's. But even though the trains on that line are slow, I like them. Nice atmosphere. I got a lot of reading done then.

Thanks for posting.

Hi!

Welcome to Boston. I found your site via AskMe (I've lurked on Mefi for years but don't have an acct).

The only point I'd argue with is the "great" public transportation system. It may be great compared to Memphis but compared to many other systems it's just OK. I live on the N. Shore and take the commuter rail to North Station then the green line to the Arlington T stop for work every day and there are often delays on the subway. It's not bad enough to ever consider driving in the AM but it can be a pain in the behind.

Funny too, I'm the exact opposite of you ... I'm definitely a red-stater living in a blue state, but I'm kind of stuck here (been here my whole life). In fact, I was one of the few Bush voters in Mass .. there was me and ... ummm, another guy I think.

Anyway, welcome to Mass, and be sure to visit the North Shore if you get a chance. It's a beautiful place to visit. Good luck!

Best regards,
Bill

Abby's not a baseball fanatic or even fan, but on the other hand, her mother is. :)

Y'know, you missed one of the (seems to me, anyway) dispositive factors in moving to Boston:

Somebody there offered you a job you wanted.

I'd throw in the fact that you could get season tickets to see the Red Sox in Fenway Park (even though they beat the Cards last October); Fenway's one of my favorite places on earth, and a helluva place to catch a ball game. Then again, you're probably not as much of a baseball fanatic as I am.

Frankly, I envy you. If I had the opportunity to move to The Hub.... well, I'd probably still be A St. Lousan in Exile, but I wouldn't be nearly so obnoxiously vocal about it.
